Successful Education- Rule 2

May 19th, 2008

It is very important to review my rule 1 to proceed with the next step – rule 2. The deal is without curiosity there will be no sense in your education.

And by the way, sense is the leading factor also. That sense should be concealed in whatever in your study. And you should realize that. On its disappearing you may lose the whole understanding that leads to confusion.

A real problem for any student is a volume of necessary reading. Almost all the written texts are not appropriate with their relation to the memory process. It is usually hard to revise all the read text at the end.

You should think of the text like about someone’s idea presented in an attempt to express it.

The world around us is made of various relationships and certain interdependent items. We understand the reality from this very point of view. We construct some rules according to our experience to make sense out of different situations. But we cannot find these rules in the texts.

For understanding we should bound some unknown to already explored notion.

Thus you create new relationships between some items.

The process of contextualizing helps to understand the reality. It means you need to place the received learning into a context.

Our mind is designed like an operation system so some scholars advise to use mind maps (found by Tony Buzan) and diagrams for visual relationships. Each map may be individual. Using color pens may be of great use for matching this or that relates on the map.

But remember that every map is just a device for better memorizing rather than the knowledge itself. It is just for your convenience in study.

And feel free in changing your map. The earlier you start the sooner you get the results. Good luck!
